The Vice President, Credit Operations & Adjudication reports to the CEO and provides oversight for retail, residential mortgage and commercial credit activities. The role supports prudent, consistent and member-focused lending practices while ensuring the credit union operates within approved policy, delegated authority, regulatory requirements and enterprise risk appetite and credit risk parameters. Core Outcomes:

Credit Policy Administration

Administer and maintain approved lending policies, procedures, adjudication guidelines and delegated lending authorities. Identify policy gaps or emerging risk trends and recommend practical updates for Executive review and approval.

Ensure lending decisions and documentation practices are consistent with approved policy and regulatory expectations.

Anticipate and respond to evolving regulatory expectations and industry trends by driving continuous enhancement of lending policies, procedures, governance frameworks, and risk controls.

Adjudication & Underwriting Standard

Lead consistent, timely and well-documented adjudication practices across residential, consumer and commercial lending.

Maintain underwriting standards, credit analysis expectations, exception controls and escalation practices.

Provide senior credit guidance on complex or higher-risk lending matters within delegated authority.

Retail & Commercial Credit Oversight

Provide oversight for retail, residential mortgage and commercial credit activities through the Director, Retail Credit & Operations and Director, Commercial Credit.

Support alignment between lending growth, member service, portfolio quality and prudent credit risk management.

Promote consistent credit coaching and learning across lending teams.

Collections & Special Accounts

Oversee collections, recovery and special accounts practices, including early intervention, workout strategies and loss mitigation.

Ensure delinquency,



arrears and impaired accounts are actively monitored and escalated appropriately.

Recommend settlement, recovery or restructuring actions within delegated authority.

Credit Portfolio Performance

Partner with Risk and executive leaders to ensure emerging credit risks are identified, assessed and escalated in line with the credit union’s risk appetite.

Monitor credit portfolio performance, including delinquency trends, exceptions, concentrations, arrears, losses and emerging credit quality concerns.

Prepare clear portfolio reporting and analysis for Executive review and support Board, Risk Committee, Audit Committee as required.

Recommend operational or policy actions to improve portfolio quality, member outcomes and risk controls.

Credit Operations

Lead credit administration, documentation standards, quality assurance, workflow effectiveness and operational controls.

Drive continuous improvement in credit processes, service levels, internal handoffs and system usage.

Partner with Finance, Risk, Operations, Retail, Commercial and People & Culture to support responsible lending practices.

Leadership & Culture

Lead, coach and their teams, setting clear expectations for accountability, consistency and service quality.

Build leadership capability within credit teams through clear expectations, coaching, performance accountability and succession planning.

Model CSCU values and support the credit union’s purpose of uniting working people to build a just world.

Build a collaborative, learning-focused and risk-aware credit culture.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES: This position will require the following technical skills:

Strong knowledge of credit union lending policy, adjudication frameworks and delegated lending authorities.

Advanced understanding of commercial credit, residential mortgage lending, retail lending and credit documentation standards.

Strong credit analysis, portfolio monitoring, collections/special accounts and loss mitigation expertise.

Ability to interpret portfolio data, identify emerging credit risks and make practical recommendations.

Working knowledge of BC credit union regulation, audit expectations, privacy considerations and consumer protection requirements.

Robust operational leadership, process improvement and cross-functional problem-solving skills.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Post-secondary education in business, finance, commerce, economics or a related discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.

10+ years of progressive lending, credit adjudication or credit leadership experience in a regulated financial institution.

Significant demonstrated experience in both commercial and residential credit, underwriting standards and portfolio monitoring.

Experience leading managers or senior professionals;

experience leading through Directors is preferred.

Experience with collections, special accounts, credit operations, policy administration and audit/regulatory reviews is preferred.

Credit union experience is strongly preferred.
