Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced and motivated Lead Security Systems Technician to lead the installation, programming, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of integrated electronic security systems. This role requires a solid technical background in security technology, electrical systems, network integration, leadership skills and a commitment to delivering and maintaining high-quality solutions for government, commercial, industrial and other critical infrastructure clients. The ideal candidate will lead a team of technicians, ensure project completion according to specifications, and maintain high standards of safety and quality while representing CamNet Solutions professionally at all times.

Duties

- Lead the installation, configuration, testing, troubleshooting and servicing of electronic security systems including CCTV, ACS, IDS, sensors, intercoms and telecommunication equipment.
- Configure and troubleshoot Video Management Systems (VMS), including platforms such as Genetec Security Center, Milestone XProtect, Axis Camera Station or equivalent enterprise VMS solutions.
- Install, program and commission Access Control Systems (ACS), including controllers, readers, credentials, door hardware and associated software
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and technical drawings to plan system layouts and wiring diagrams.
- Perform system diagnostics, preventative maintenance and repairs.
- Oversee the setup of low voltage electrical systems and ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety standards and CamNet quality standards.
- Manage the integration of computer hardware with security systems,



including networking components for remote access and monitoring.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and specialized mechanical knowledge to install equipment efficiently.
- Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure optimal operation of all security components.
- Coordinate with construction teams during new builds or renovations to incorporate security infrastructure seamlessly.
- Coordinate daily activities with project managers, customers, subcontractors and technicians.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, modifications, as-builts, and maintenance activities.
- Maintain company tools, equipment, inventory and vehicles in a professional manner.

Requirements

- Minimum of 5 years experience in security system installation and/or maintenance, with a focus on CCTV, ACS, sensors, IDS, and telecommunication systems.
- Strong working knowledge of enterprise VMS, ACS and other systems as indicated above
- Proven experience of IP networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, PoE, switching and basic network troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of electronic security concepts, best practices and installation methodologies.




- Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams related to security infrastructure.
- Electrical experience with low voltage wiring and power tools handling is essential.
- Knowledge of computer hardware setup, computer networking principles, and system integration techniques.
- Mechanical knowledge combined with experience using hand tools and power tools for installation tasks.
- Ability to lead a team effectively while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in high-pressure environments.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while leading a team.
- Positive, professional and customer-focused attitude.

Pay: $18.50-$40.00 per hour

Experience:

- commercial electronic security systems: 5 years (required)

Licence/Certification:

- Ontario Class G driver's license (required)
- electronic security system(s) manufacturer certification? (preferred)
