Position Summary

The Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) works under the direct supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to implement treatment plans and provide support services to individuals with communication difficulties. This role requires adherence to all ethical and professional standards and provincial licensing regulations.

Responsibilities

The duties of the CDA may include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Clinical Implementation: Implement documented treatment plans and protocols developed by the supervising SLP. This role requires adherence to all ethical and professional standards and provincial licensing regulations.
- Data Collection: Document patient performance (e.g., tallying data, charting, and preparing materials) and report information to the supervising SLP.
- Therapy Preparation: Prepare and organize materials for therapy sessions, including creating visual aids and communication boards.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and check clinical equipment and material inventory.
- Administrative Support: Perform clerical duties such as scheduling, preparing charts, and maintaining records as directed by the SLP.
- Screening & Assessment Support (under SLP direction): Assist with informal documentation and conducting screenings (without interpretation) and following standardized test administration procedures.
- Collaboration:



Collaborate with the supervising SLP, other professionals, and family members to support the patient's goals. Meeting biweekly with the SLP to review client progress.
- Continuing Education: Participate in professional development activities and training as required.

Qualifications, Education and Certification

- CDA certification (preferred) or SLPA experience
- Professional Liability insurance
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Availability to work on Saturday and/or Sunday

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The CDA position may require the ability to:

- Sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Interact with patients who may have varied physical, sensory and emotional needs.

- Pay: $30 - $60 per hour
