- Prepare the patient prior to consultation, i.e. remove coat for BP check, or change into gown.
- Initiate the chart in the EMR for the patient visit, including the purpose, history and health care needs.
- Record patients’ vitals and prepare the patient for the appropriate examination.
- Perform blood pressure follow-ups that include assessing the patient’s response to medications.
- Offer health promotion and disease prevention where appropriate during patient visits such as appropriate immunizations, and educating on healthy diet and exercise etc.
- Educate patients about different test results, obtain further patient history if needed on the phone and give medical direction as per the advice of the physician.
- Administer and record immunizations in the EMR, and educate patients about their possible side effects and how to manage them.
- Administer maintenance medications such as vitamin B12, testosterone, and allergy serums.
- Conduct other procedures as directed under the supervision of the Physician, e.g. ear-syringing, urine or hCG dipstick testing, assessing visual acuity, staple/suture removal, TB skin testing, and assist the Physician with minor clinic procedures including set-up of procedures,
- Send tissue and fluid samples to the lab.
- Take patient histories on the phone for minor concerns and review with the physician how to proceed.
- Aid in completing school immunization forms, MTO forms etc.
- Clean rooms
- Daily vaccine fridge temperature recording.
- Weekly clinical rooms stocking, including regular expiry date checks of immunizations and supplies.
- Order supplies for the office as needed.
- Order immunizations and pick them up from Public Health as needed.
Pay: From $30.00 per hour
