Job Summary

The Sour Grape Bakery & Taproom is looking for a friendly, reliable, and energetic team member to join our café family! Please note 19 and older.

This is a full time position with regular daytime hours:

- Tuesday to Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Hoping in open Monday's soon.
- Occasional weekend shifts as needed for vacations, special events, or scheduling coverage.

What You’ll Do:

- Welcome customers with a friendly smile and provide excellent customer service.
- Prepare and serve coffee, espresso drinks, teas, and other beverages.
- Serve baked goods and light café items.
- Operate the point-of-sale system and handle cash and card transactions.
- Keep the café clean, organized, and well stocked throughout the day.
- Assist with opening duties and daily preparation.
- Work as part of a positive, supportive team.

Experience:
Previous café, restaurant, or customer service experience is an asset, but we’re happy to train the right person with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities





- Greet customers warmly and take their food orders accurately at the front counter.
- Operate POS systems, including Micros POS, to process cash, credit card, and digital payments efficiently.
- Prepare food items according to company standards, ensuring quality and safety.
- Handle cash transactions with precision, giving correct change and balancing cash drawers at shift end.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, adhering to food safety and sanitation protocols.
- Upsell menu items to enhance customer experience and increase sales opportunities.
- Assist in food handling tasks such as assembling orders, stocking supplies, and maintaining inventory levels.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing questions, resolving issues promptly, and ensuring guest satisfaction.

Experience

- Prior food service experience or restaurant background preferred but not required; training will be provided.
- Familiarity with POS systems, especially Micros POS, is a plus.
- Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during busy hours.
- Knowledge of food handling safety standards and sanitation practices.
- Basic math skills for cash handling and order calculations.
- Experience in cashiering or serving roles within the food industry is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver excellent customer service with a positive attitude.
