The North Island Crisis and Counselling Centre Society is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the position of Early Childhood Educator in a 24-space multi-age child care centre located in Port McNeill, BC. This position is a permanent full time position.

As an early childhood educator, you will be providing direct care for children 3 years to 12 years of age in a caring and responsive centre-based environment. You will be working under the direction of the Centre manager, joining a well established team. You will provide day to day care for the children enrolled in the program, provide input and participate in early learning and school aged curriculum and work as part of a cohesive child care team. Within a child and family focused model, you will follow the routines of the children and the Centre and work collaboratively with parents and caregivers focusing on the needs of their children. You are willing to get on the floor, go outside, play, be creative, nurturing and be eager to have fun!

Skills/Abilities/Knowledge

· Communicates clearly both orally and in writing, using good interpersonal skills

· Well-developed time, planning and organizational abilities

· Demonstrates strong knowledge of early child development

· Demonstrates a good understanding of positive child guidance

· Ability to work independently and as a part of a team with a positive approach





· Keen understanding of family centered practice

· Warm, caring and creative

Will be required to complete routine daily chores as part of a team to ensure the heath and safety of the children and the staff in the Centre.

Preferred Qualifications

· Full Provincial Certification in Early Childhood Care and Education. ECE/A are welcome to apply with enrollment and the completion of the ECE program within an established timeline.

· Supervised experience working with families and children.

First Aid/CPR certified (or willing to obtain)

Terms of Employment

Full Time, permanent position, 35 hours per week

Benefit package available following the successful completion of the probation period.

Clear criminal record check required (vulnerable sector)

· Salary: $ 25.00/hour + $6.00/wage provincial wage enhancement (for fully ECE certified applicants)
