Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our healthcare team. This position would work closely with our current senior RPN in a similar capacity with the opportunity to learn from someone already working in a similar role. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care across various office settings, specifically in the day to day running of a specialized surgical office including clinic patient preparation, telephone calls to patients, direct patient care, EMR management, and specialized urologic testing such as PVR/Uroflow ect. This role requires a strong foundation in nursing practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. The RPN will be responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing services to diverse patient populations, ensuring safety, comfort, and optimal health outcomes.

Responsibilities

- Administer medications and treatments accurately in accordance with physician orders and established protocols
- Monitor patient health status
- Assist with patient mobility if needed
- Document patient information meticulously using electronic health record (Accuro)
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans
- Provide specialized care for patients with a specific focus on Urologic health
- Perform Urologic testing procedures with patients (eg PVR/uroflow)



and manage laboratory specimen collection when necessary (urine dip / culture / ect)
- Educate patients and families about health conditions, medication management, and post-discharge care instructions
- Ensure compliance with infection control policies and safety standards at all times
- Participate in case management activities to coordinate comprehensive patient services

Skills

- Proven experience in clinical setting, specifically a surgical setting is an asset
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration protocols, and pain management techniques
- Familiarity with electronic medical records systems
- A base understanding of urology is an asset
- Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations including children and elderly patients
- Ability to work effectively within a team while demonstrating independence in clinical tasks
- Experience with laboratory procedures is preferred
- Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
