We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established manufacturing and distribution company in Hamilton, for an experienced Tool & Cutter Grinder. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled trades qualified looking to join a stable organization with a strong reputation for quality and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate tool and cutter grinding machines to sharpen, repair, and manufacture cutting tools
- Inspect tools and components to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications
- Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other measuring instruments
- Troubleshoot tooling issues and recommend corrective actions
- Maintain grinding equipment and ensure proper machine operation
- Adhere to workplace health and safety procedures and company policies
- Keep accurate production and maintenance records as required
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Tool & Cutter Grinder or in a similar machining/tooling role
- Strong understanding of grinding processes, cutting tool geometry, and precision machining
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Experience using precision measuring instruments
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement
Preferred Qualifications
- Tool and Die Maker, Machinist, or related trade certification considered an asset
- Experience with CNC tool grinding equipment
- Knowledge of carbide, high-speed steel, and specialty cutting tools
- Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or warehouse-support environment
