Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Hydrovac Operator to join our construction and excavation team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating hydrovac trucks to safely and efficiently excavate around utilities, pipelines, and other underground infrastructure. This role requires a strong understanding of heavy equipment operation, mechanical systems, and construction site safety protocols. The Hydrovac Operator plays a critical part in ensuring project accuracy and safety while working on diverse excavation projects.

Duties

- Operate hydrovac trucks with precision to excavate soil and debris around underground utilities and structures.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of hydrovac equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Utilize heavy machinery such as excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and pavers as needed for site preparation and support tasks.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of work zones, ensuring safety measures are in place.
- Coordinate with project managers and other construction personnel to execute excavation plans efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and report any equipment issues or safety concerns promptly.
- Follow all safety regulations and procedures related to heavy equipment operation and construction sites.

Tasks

- Coach colleagues on new methods or work techniques
- Professionalism in customer service
- Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
- Perform emergency roadside repairs
- Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
- Perform preventive maintenance
- Receive and relay information to central dispatch
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption

Preferred Experience

- Proven experience operating hydrovac trucks in a construction or utility environment.
- Mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and pavers.
- Familiarity with Caterpillar machinery or similar heavy equipment brands is preferred.
- Experience with horizontal drilling, paving, or other specialized construction techniques is a plus.
- Prior experience operating heavy machinery such as bulldozers, graders, excavators, or loaders is highly valued.
- Knowledge of safety standards related to heavy equipment operation and construction sites. Pay: $28.00-$40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30.0 – 60.0 per week
