About the role

IMS Canada is advertising a permanent position for a mine-seismologist in our growing Mine Seismology Department in Ottawa, Ontario. We are looking for ambitious candidates with strong problem-solving and analytical skills, attention to detail as well as good communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate should work well in a small team, be energetic, enthusiastic, adaptable and a self-starter.

The focus of the role will be to provide routine seismological services and support to customers in Central and South America.

Job tasks and responsibilities

- Mine seismology: processing, analysis and routine reporting of seismic data. Customer liaison, deliver training in mine seismology and IMS software
- Seismological services and projects: Raise and/or complete paid ad-hoc seismological projects
- Research and development in mine seismology: Current and improved techniques in the processing, analysis and interpretation of mining induced seismic data.
- In all activities, follow and uphold the company’s work instructions, procedures and Quality policies





Other role requirements

- Willingness to work overtime on occasion (not a regular requirement)
- Be available for seismological standby duty outside regular working hours
- Willingness to travel locally and internationally
- Must hold a full and valid driver’s license

Required skills and experience

- Fluency in English and Spanish (read, write, speak)
- Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Mathematics, Geophysics, or related field
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal) to provide excellent customer service
- Embody exceptional time management, a strong work ethic, self-motivation, and autonomy
- Ability to interpret seismological data and think critically
- Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, prioritising quality and reliability
- Motivation and willingness to work to meet deadlines
- Quick learner with a can-do attitude

Preferred skills and experience (not essential)

- Fluency in French
- Seismological education and/or experience
- Linux familiarity and experience
- Programming knowledge and experience

Additional annual performance-based bonus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
