About us:

Whycocomagh Lakeview Child Care Society (WLCCS) is a child care centre based in Whycocomagh, Nova Scotia. Our centre runs a full day program for children 18 months to 4 years that runs year-round. We also run an after-school care program for children aged 4 years to 12 years from September to June. Our goal is to provide quality childcare to families in the area and take down the barrier of childcare for our working families. Our hours of operation are from 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday.

Job Description:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated ECE/After-School Program Lead to join our team. This person will work as an ECE in our daycare program from 8:00am-2:00pm and then be the lead ECE in our after-school program from 2:00pm-5:00pm. This position will start as 27.5hrs/week (8:00am-2:00pm) for the months of July and August, and increase to 40hrs/week (8:00am-5:00pm) in September until the end date of June 25th, 2027.

Job Duties:

The duties for the ECE/After-School Program Lead include but are not limited to:

- Greeting each child with a friendly and welcoming attitude.




- Planning and implementing age-appropriate activities.
- Documenting current interests of the group and completing programming.
- Maintaining clear and consistent communication with families, co-workers and supervisor.
- Maintaining a clean, healthy, and secure environment.
- Following Public Health protocols and guidelines for cleaning procedures.
- Maintaining confidentiality and represent WLCCS in a professional manner.
- Using proper documentation of all incidents and follow policies.
- Following WLCCS behaviour guidance policy.
- Inspecting toys and rid of all sharp/broken toys.
- Conducting monthly fire-drills.

Qualifications:

- ECE Classification (Level 2 or 3 OR have school-age approval)
- First Aid/CPR Level C
- Recent Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector (Within the last 3 months)
- Recent Child Abuse Register (Within the last 3 months)
- Food Safety, an asset but not mandatory

Term:

- Start date: as soon as possible
- End date: June 25th, 2027

Pay: $25.61-$32.19 per hour
