CST Coal located at Highway 40 North, Grande Cache, AB has a need for full time and permanent heavy equipment technicians.

Duties

- Perform planned and breakdown maintenance/repairs/installations to mobile and ancillary equipment in an open-pit mining facility.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical/electrical problems and conduct work within planned time frames without compromising the integrity of any equipment or facility.
- Enter reports on maintenance, repairs, and diagnoses into the maintenance database prior to the end of each shift, providing sufficient detail for others to understand the work that has been completed.
- Keep work areas clean and free of safety hazards on a continuous basis.
- Contribute to safety and productivity by constructively participating in safety meetings, and incident investigations
- Types of Equipment are, but not limited to Shovels (hydraulic/electric) Haul Trucks, Dozers, Graders, Loaders, Fuel Trucks

Education Requirements

- Has a Canadian interprovincial Red Seal Certificate of Qualification or a Provincial Certificate of Qualification as heavy-duty mechanic or be eligible to challenge the Canadian journeyman examination

Experience

- Previous mining experience an asset.
- Maintenance and repair experience on all or some of the following: P&H; 2800, Hitachi EX3600 and EX5500 shovel, P&H; 250 and P&H; 320 overburden drills or related mining equipment will be required OR similar equipment. CST coal will decide what equipment is similar. The experience is on large open pit mining equipment.

Wages and Benefits

- 7 and 7, 12 hour day /night rotation.
- No camp available,



you are required to hold residence, on some level, in the town of Grande Cache for the duration of your work rotation.
- $53.69 per hour
- $1.10 per hour night shift premium
- $600.00 per year for boot/clothing allowance. ($23.08 bi weekly taxable, benefit)
- $1,500.00 per year tool allowance ($57.69 bi-weekly, taxable benefit)
- $600.00 per month Trades Allowance ($300.00 bi weekly, taxable benefit)
- $500.00 per month Living Allowance ($250.00 bi weekly, taxable benefit)
- Medical benefits on the 1st of the month following your start date.
- 8% RSP Match program.
- Relocation reimbursement of $5000.00 payable once the employee maintains their own permanent residence in Grande Cache.
- The positions governed with a CBA signed with the United Mine Workers of America Local 2009.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The incumbent needs to be able to:

- handle loads over 20 kg. in weight
- maintain a license/certification and operate a vehicle requiring a Class 5 license.
- regularly engage in physical exertion, i.e., shovel, lift and/or carry heavy materials.
- concentrate for over 60 consecutive minutes.
- work in environmental extremes for over 60 consecutive minutes
- sit for over 60 consecutive minutes.
- listen to quiet sounds.
