TITLE: Fitness Instructor I / II
DEPARTMENT: Community Services Department
HOURS OF WORK: Variable hours. Shift work as required.
RATE OF PAY: $26.73 per hour or 30.97 per hour (depending on the class) plus 15% in lieu of benefits
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The incumbent shall instruct a variety fitness classes offered at the Cariboo Memorial Complex.
SUPERVISION:
Responsible to the Director of Community Services and under the direction of the Recreation Program Coordinator - Adult.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instruct a variety of fitness classes at the Cariboo Memorial Complex.
- Apply effective public relations techniques.
- Maintain personal fitness level appropriate for instruction.
- Perform secure, challenging programs.
- Performs other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum Grade XII education.
- Current BCRPA Fitness Registration.
- Current CPR C.
- Ability to instruct 45-90 minute classes.
- Minimum of one of the following courses with intention of completing all four:
- BCRPA Fitness Leader – Aquatic Fitness
- BCRPA Fitness Leader – Weight Training
- BCRPA Fitness Leader – Group Fitness
- BCRPA Fitness Leader – Third Age
- BCRPA Fitness Leader – Yoga Fitness
- BCRPA Fitness Leader – Personal Training
- BCRPA Fitness Leader – Osteofit
- Self motivated.
- Knowledgeable in all aspects of fitness first aid.
- Shall have initiative and desire to undertake additional training to upgrade own skills and abilities.
- Fitness courses from other agencies such as Can Fit Pro, YMCA, YWCA and other recognized agencies will also be considered.
