Medical Malpractice Associate Lawyer

Location: Toronto, ON
Job Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

A well-established plaintiff-side litigation firm is seeking an experienced and motivated Medical Malpractice Associate Lawyer to join its growing team in Toronto, Ontario.

This is an excellent prospect for a lawyer who is passionate about advocating for individuals who have suffered injuries as a result of medical negligence and who is interested in handling sophisticated medical malpractice and complex negligence matters.

The successful candidate will have strong litigation skills, excellent advocacy abilities, and the confidence to independently manage files while collaborating with a team of experienced legal professionals.

Please Note:

- This position is based in Toronto, Ontario.

- Candidates must be licensed to practice law in Ontario.

- Relocation to Ontario will be required for candidates currently residing outside the province.

- This is primarily an in-office position, requiring attendance 4-5 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage plaintiff-side medical malpractice files from intake through settlement or trial.

- Conduct examinations for discovery, mediations, motions, pre-trials, and court appearances.

- Draft pleadings, motion materials, mediation briefs, legal correspondence, and other litigation documents.

- Develop and implement litigation strategies for complex medical negligence claims.

- Work closely with medical experts and consultants to evaluate liability, causation, and damages.





- Provide legal advice and guidance to clients throughout the litigation process.

- Collaborate with senior counsel, experts, and support staff on complex matters.

- Maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and client-focused advocacy.

- Manage case deadlines and ensure compliance with court rules and procedures.

Qualifications

- Minimum of 3 years of medical malpractice litigation experience.

- Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Ontario.

- Strong advocacy, negotiation, and legal drafting skills.

- Experience independently managing litigation files.

- Ability to analyze complex medical records and expert evidence.

- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to thrive in a quick-paced and collaborative legal environment.

- Strong academic credentials and commitment to professional excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience representing plaintiffs in medical malpractice matters.

- Experience handling catastrophic injury, wrongful death, or other complex negligence claims.

- Trial, mediation, and discovery experience.

- Proven ability to manage files independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Work Environment

- Toronto-based position.

- In-office attendance required 4-5 days per week.
