We are looking for a creative and talented Baker/Cake Decorator to join our Bakery Team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys baking cakes, making icings with a strong drive for artistic design, working with their hands, and takes pride in creating beautiful and delicious cakes for our customers.

The successful candidate will be able to pick up on executing recipes accurately, following scheduled tasks, while having a strong creative eye, attention to detail, and the ability to bring customers' ideas and special occasions to life through cakes.

What You'll Do

Primary Role: Cake Production and Packaging

- Bake, assemble, and package cakes and cupcakes for sale in-store according to Unger's Market standards
- Following basic recipes and accurately measuring ingredients for baking cakes and making variety of icings
- Follow directions and complete daily scheduled tasks to a high standard
- Operate commercial mixers and ovens after appropriate training
- Pick and label products, and restock shelves throughout the day
- Assist customers with general inquiries and take orders over the phone
- Assist Bakery Team with regular equipment and facility cleaning duties
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Monitor product quality and remove products that are not suitable for sale

Additional Bakery Duties

As time allows, you may also assist with:

- Decorate cakes, cupcakes, and other bakery products according to customer requests and Unger's Market standards.
- Create a variety of designs, including seasonal, themed, celebration, and custom cakes.
- Use icing, piping techniques, edible decorations, and other decorating materials to create attractive and professional designs.
- Work with customers and Bakery Team members to understand and fulfill custom cake orders.
- Provide creative input and recommendations to customers when appropriate.




- Ensure cakes are completed accurately and on time according to customer order specifications.
- Properly store and care for decorating tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Assist with general Bakery duties and production as needed.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace health and safety procedures.
- Work collaboratively with the Bakery Team to ensure smooth daily operations.

Daily Production & Restocking

- Complete daily production tasks according to established schedules and priorities.
- Check inventory and restock shelves and coolers throughout the day.
- Prepare products and packaging for the following day's production.
- Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) practices when stocking packaged products.
- Consistently communicate with Cake Lead or Bakery Manager

- Able to accurately measure and scale wet and dry ingredients.
- Comfortable learning to use a variety of kitchen and bakery equipment.
- Able to maintain high standards of cleanliness and product quality.
- A positive team player who works well independently and with others.
- Comfortable standing and working with hands for extended periods.
- Willing to learn and take direction from Bakers and Team Leads.
- Customer-service oriented and comfortable interacting with customers in person and over the phone
- Creative and artistically talented, with a strong eye for colour, design, and detail.
- Experienced or interested in cake decorating, baking, art, or another creative discipline.
- Able to translate ideas and designs into attractive finished products.
- Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple cake orders and deadlines.




- Able to work independently while also contributing positively to a team environment.
- Friendly and comfortable communicating with customers.
- Willing to learn and adapt to Unger's Market's decorating styles and standards.
- Able to maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Maintain high standards of quality, presentation, and attention to detail.

Qualifications & Experience

- Recommended: Previous cake decorating or bakery experience is preferred
- Recommended: Passionate for art, graphic design, baking, cake decorating, or a related creative field is preferred.
- Food handling experience is an asset.
- Training may be provided to the right candidate with strong artistic ability and a willingness to learn

Schedule & Compensation

- 15–30 hours per week
- $17.60 per hour
- Part-time position
- Schedule may include weekdays, evenings, and weekends based on business needs.
