Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Cross Dock Foreman for our client in the Cambridge area, to lead and coordinate the cross-docking operations. In this pivotal role, the ideal candidate will oversee the efficient transfer of goods between transportation modes, ensuring timely and accurate movement of shipments. Leadership will drive process improvements, optimize workflow, and maintain high standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities:

- Studies the day’s work load to determine shipping priorities, work assignments and shipping methods required to meet schedules. Follow up with central and local dispatch to coordinate any special equipment needs and ensure all the proper equipment is in place as well as determining the amount of manpower that is required through discussions with your supervisors
- Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists supervisors in solving work problems
- Discuss with central dispatch any pickups or late inbound trailers that will affect outbound schedules and adjust procedures to meet schedules
- Inspects loading operations to ensure maximum use of space requirements, layouts, positioning of shipments, etc. and monitors the load quality to eliminate or minimize claims
- Ensure the nightly events are captured through the supervisors' reports and follow up with them on any problems
- Follow up on claims, overages, shortages, etc. identify problems, determine the cause and put steps in place to correct. ie. more training




- Manages seven subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 64 employees on the Dock and responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
- Responsible for keeping operational costs low through packing in the most organizational efficient manner
- Other duties may be assigned

Requirements:

- Experience with handle and loading techniques for quality maximization and efficiency enhancement
- Experience with Tow motor operations
- Computer skills
- Knowledge of Claims and OS&D;
- Must be organized and have the ability to meet deadlines
- Leadership or management skills
- Cost Analysis/Cost reduction (Budget control) experience

Shift: Afternoons, 2:30PM - 11:30PM
Salary: $70k/annum

Pay: $70,000.00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Cambridge, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
