Our client is an established European specialty grocery retailer known for offering high-quality fresh, prepared, and imported foods. They are seeking an experienced Cook to join their team at their North York location. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys preparing food from scratch in a fast-paced, professional kitchen environment.

Position Details

Job Title: Cook
Location: North York, ON (Dufferin Street)
Pay Rate: CA$21.00 – CA$27.00 per hour (based on experience)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Work Location: In person

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare, heat, and finish a variety of fresh food items
- Wash, peel, chop, and prepare vegetables and fruits
- Prepare a wide range of hot and cold foods, including soups, salads, croquettes, blintzes, grilled items, and other prepared meals
- Grill fish, kebabs, and other hot food items
- Operate manual and electrical kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Clean, sanitize, and maintain kitchen workstations, equipment, and food preparation areas
- Receive, unpack, and properly store food and kitchen supplies
- Handle and store cleaning products according to safety standards
- Sweep and mop kitchen floors and maintain a clean work environment
- Support kitchen staff with food preparation and inventory as needed
- Lift and move products weighing up to 20 lbs (9 kg)

Qualifications

- Minimum 2 years of professional cooking experience
- Experience preparing food from scratch in a commercial kitchen




- Experience preparing a variety of international cuisines
- Experience with Eastern European cuisine (especially Ukrainian and Russian cuisine) is considered a strong asset
- Robust knife skills and food preparation techniques
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
- Strong time management skills and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
