We are seeking experienced Servers/Bartenders who are confident behind the bar, attentive on the dining floor and dedicated to creating memorable guest experiences.

Position Summary

The Server/Bartender provides professional, friendly and efficient food and beverage service. Responsibilities include taking guest orders, preparing and serving beverages, processing payments and maintaining a clean, organized and welcoming environment.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Greet guests warmly and deliver attentive, knowledgeable service.
- Explain menu items, ingredients, daily features and beverage options.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders and enter them into the point-of-sale system.
- Prepare cocktails, mixed drinks and other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes and presentation standards.
- Serve food and beverages promptly and monitor guest satisfaction throughout the dining experience.
- Verify identification and follow all responsible alcohol-service requirements.
- Monitor guests for signs of intoxication and respond in accordance with Smart Serve guidelines and restaurant policies.
- Process cash, debit and credit-card payments accurately.




- Maintain accurate guest bills and complete end-of-shift cash-out procedures.
- Set up, stock and maintain bar, dining and service areas.
- Complete opening, closing and assigned side duties.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards for glassware, bar equipment, tables and service areas.
- Communicate allergies, dietary restrictions and special requests accurately to the kitchen.
- Collaborate with kitchen, management and front-of-house staff to ensure efficient service.
- Assist with receiving and organizing beverage supplies when required.
- Follow Calabash recipes, portion standards, service procedures and workplace policies.
- Support private events, hotel guests, takeout orders and special programming as needed.
- Contribute to a respectful, inclusive and team-oriented workplace.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum one year of serving experience in a restaurant, bar, hotel or comparable hospitality environment.
- Valid Smart Serve Ontario certification.
- Must be at least 18 years of age to serve alcohol in Ontario.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Previous bartending experience or demonstrated knowledge of basic cocktails, spirits, beer and wine.
- Experience with restaurant point-of-sale systems and payment processing.
- Strong communication, guest-service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tables and priorities in high-volume service periods.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to order accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule,



including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Willingness to complete all required workplace training, including health and safety, WHMIS, accessibility, food safety and Calabash’s responsible alcohol-service procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

- Valid Food Handler Certificate.
- Two or more years of combined serving and bartending experience.
- Experience working in a hotel restaurant, a full-service restaurant, or a high-volume bar.
- Knowledge of Jamaican or Caribbean cuisine, cocktails and hospitality.
- Experience with inventory counts, bar opening and bar closing procedures.
- First Aid and CPR certification.

Physical and Work Requirements

- Ability to remain standing and moving throughout the majority of the shift.
- Ability to carry trays, glassware, dishes and restaurant supplies safely.
- Ability to lift and move up to approximately 30 pounds, with reasonable accommodation where required.
- Ability to work around food, beverages, cleaning products, kitchen equipment and changing noise levels.
- Ability to work safely and efficiently during busy service periods.
