Samick's is a small food manufacturer being in the industry for over 20 years. Samick's works with many of Canada's major grocers and food service providers. We are currently growing very fast and looking to hire a full time in house maintenance technician.
Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Technician to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring the optimal operation and maintenance of our manufacturing facilities and equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills, with experience in facilities maintenance, manufacturing, and customer service. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing routine inspections, repairs, and upgrades to support continuous production and facility safety. Equipment currently in or facility includes, oven, skillets, kettles, fryers, portioners, formers, tray sealers, mixers, cartoners, taping machines, etc.
Duties
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment and facility systems
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment logs.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic issues using schematics, ohmmeters, and other diagnostic tools
- Conduct emergency breakdown response and root cause analysis to minimize production downtime.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and maintenance documentation
- Supervise or lead maintenance projects when required, providing guidance to junior team members
- Assist in facilities maintenance tasks such as plumbing, HVAC repairs, or general building upkeep
- Comply with GMPs, food safety standards, and lock-out/tag-out protocols.
- Conduct daily safety inspections and ensure all machinery operates within CSA and OHSA compliance.
- Document and report potential hazards or malfunctions.
Requirements
- Proven experience in facilities or manufacturing maintenance with a strong background in mechanical knowledge and electrical systems
- Experience working on cooking and packaging equipment
- Excellent communication skills in English to effectively document work and collaborate with team members
- Ability to perform troubleshooting on complex systems using schematics and technical manuals
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and facilities maintenance best practices
- Experience with general handyman duties and upkeep
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
