Primary Function:

This individual will maintain high quality standards and ensure the overall greenhouse operation runs efficiently and cost effectively. This individual will report to the VP Operations, they will work with the other Growers to ensure the farms remain virus and pest free, produce high quality product to maximize yields and provide timely communication and supervision to their supervisors to ensure crop activities are executed appropriately. The Grower will also ensure the greenhouse is in compliance with all food and safety standards and with all MOE policies and procedures. The Grower will assist VP Operations with all regulatory matters, including MOE issues as they arise from time to time.

Primary Responsibilities:

· To support all Growers, participate in the weekly walkthroughs with the independent crop consultant.

· Ensuring that all growing processes and systems are carried out to the highest quality standards and maximize production yields.

· Timely communication with the Supervisors/Labourers to ensure appropriate planning and directing and supervision over crop work. The Grower will also be responsible for the annual performance reviews for all its Direct Reports (supervisors, packhouse manager and maintenance manager as applicable to GR3) in accordance with Company policy.

· Working with the IPM Pest Scout, share responsibility for pest and disease control. Monitor pests and pollination and obtain weekly sign-off on approach from the Crop Consultant.

· Manage fertilization, irrigation, and climate control needs (computer-managed actions).

· Availability for night and weekend duty (from remote site) to monitor alarms set by plant.





· Work with the Director of Finance and Team to explain the deviation of labour hours and costs from budget as required for GR3.

· Ensure management plans/intentions on plant health as communicated by the Crop Consultant Dr. Sana Sadar are implemented in a timely manner.

· Perform/track soil, water, disease tests as needed and in accordance with MOE requirements.

· Facilitating trials on new products prior to commercial use within the farm.

· Ensuring the data collection required under the Company SR&ED; program for lights is managed and tracked daily.

· Ensuring product orders for scouting purposes are placed on time.

· Maintaining up to date records and reports

· Assist in planning, organizing, training, and assigning scout duties if required.

· Providing support and adhering to our Food Safety & Health and Safety programs / policies/ processes and other audits including Fair Trade, EFI or the Financial Audit.

· To oversee the yearly crop clean out and new crop planting ensuring risk management procedures are followed to ensure disease is minimized and plant health is maximized.

· To adhere to and review at least once annually the Company’s code of conduct and other Company policies as required including job descriptions.

· Other duties as assigned from time to time.

Packhouse Responsibilities for GR3

· To ensure packhouse is operating optimally (production scheduling, quality control, shipped weight to pick variance etc…)





· To review and have an in-depth understanding of all weekly packhouse schedules (what is being packed by day and scheduled deliveries).

· To verify and release ach order and sign-off with the packhouse manager once the order is shipped.

· To investigate matters as required, using camera footage if available, when called upon by the VP Operations or CFOO.

Position Requirements:

· At least 5 years of related greenhouse experience.

· Knowledgeable of horticulture pests and disease identification.

· First aid certification or ability to be trained.

· Related work experience with pesticide license and hold a Pesticide or Assistant’s License.

· A passion for growing agriculture commodities.

· Strong managerial and organizational skills.

· Capacity to be a flexible and enthusiastic team player.

· Must reside in relative proximity to the facility.

· Good communicator verbal/written.

· Well organized and a self-starter.

· Excellent record keeping and analytical skills.

· Self-motivated, positive attitude

· Work independently with minimal supervision.

· Must adhere to and follow all company policies and procedures.

· Follow all Food Safety & Health & Safety and MOE policies.

Working Conditions:

· Work in variable climate conditions, high temperatures and humidity.

· Position requires sitting, standing, bending and walking on a regular basis.

· Visual and audio sensory are needed regularly.

· Hours largely driven by the need to care for living growth systems that cannot be compromised.

Pay: $75,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
