Modern Workplace & Cloud Operations Administrator – Waterloo, ON – Permanent

What You Will Be Doing, as a Modern Workplace & Cloud Operations Administrator:

This Tier 3 operational role is responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of Microsoft 365, Intune-managed endpoints, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), and hybrid Active Directory/Entra ID identity services.

This role also owns Microsoft 365 backup administration and routine AD/GPO updates and serves as the primary liaison with the managed services provider (MSP) for Azure servers, SQL workloads, and virtualization platforms.

The below-noted tasks are to be completed to build the business and meet the organization's strategic needs.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Administer, and act as the subject matter expert on projects related to, Microsoft 365 services including applications such as Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive.

· Act as administrator for applications such as PDQ Deploy (asset and inventory management) and our internal CP Support portal.

· Configure and support Intune device compliance, configuration profiles, applications, and Autopilot enrollment.

· Support Azure Virtual Desktop operations, host pools, session hosts, and FS Logix profile issues.

· Seek opportunities to automate processes utilizing tools like Microsoft Power Automate and PowerShell.

· Perform Active Directory administration, GPO creation, testing, and deployment.





· Coordinate Managed Service Provider (MSP) tickets for Azure VMs, SQL Server jobs, and virtualization, including pre- and post-change validation.

· Work with the security team to operate and maintain Microsoft 365 backup platforms including job monitoring, restore tasks, and recovery testing.

· Work with the security team to ensure that applications and operating systems are patched to mitigate vulnerabilities.

· Maintain Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)s, runbooks, documentation, and knowledge articles.

· Provide tier 3 level support via triaged tickets from the Service Desk team.

· Provide mentorship to IT team members and serve as the point of escalation for support tickets

Internal and External Communication

· Engage in internal/external committees and community functions (e.g., advisory boards, workshops, skill fairs). Work alongside vendor partners to ensure quality and value for money.

· Provide regular updates on IT operations status, risks, and workplans to leadership and stakeholders.

· Commit to ongoing professional development (e.g., workshops, seminars, certifications).

· PERFORMS OTHER RELATED DUTIES AND OR SPECIAL PROJECTS AS REQUIRED IN THE DEPARTMENT

· Hybrid work environment with 1-2 days/week at our Waterloo head office.

· Ability to work non-traditional hours and participate in on-call rotations as required.

· Occasional travel within Ontario.

· Ability to prepare and deliver presentations to varied audiences.

· Occasional lifting/moving up to 40 lbs may be required.





· Manual dexterity for computer and peripheral use; comfortable communicating via phone, email, and collaboration tools.

What You Should Have, as a Modern Workplace & Cloud Operations Administrator:

· Diploma or degree in Information Technology or related field.

· Minimum 4 years of experience supporting Microsoft 365, Intune, and hybrid cloud environments.

· Experience working with MSP-supported cloud environments.

· Experience with Windows Server administration, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP and file services

· Working knowledge of Azure, SQL, virtualization, and identity synchronization.

· Excellent communication, team work, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are required

· Excellent vendor management skills

· Experience in HealthCare, preferably Home HealthCare is a large asset.

· CISSP, CISM, or equivalent security certification is preferred.

· CCNP or similar networking certification is preferred.

· Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert is preferred.

· ITIL or PMP for process and project management is preferred.

· Valid driver's license, own vehicle and appropriate insurance.

- Day shift 8:30am-4:30pm (on call after hours 1 week out of every 5 weeks)
