Drop-In Support Facilitator (Full-Time)

North End Women’s Centre – 394 Selkirk Ave, Winnipeg
$23–$27/hour
37.5 hours/week

About NEWC

North End Women’s Centre (NEWC) is located on Treaty 1 territory, on the original lands of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene peoples, and on the homeland of the Métis Nation.

We support women, gender-diverse, and non-binary people through community-centred programs focused on healing, wellness, and capacity building.

About the Role

The Drop-In Support Facilitator is a frontline, community-based role at the heart of our organization.

Our drop-in is a lively community hub—a place where people come to feel safe, supported, and connected. This role is about creating that atmosphere every day through kindness, respect, and relationship-building.

What You’ll Do

- Welcome and support all visitors, creating a secure, inclusive, and respectful environment
- Build relationships with community members and connect them to programs, services, and resources
- Support day-to-day operations of the drop-in, including preparing snacks and maintaining shared spaces
- Share information about NEWC programs and assist with participant registration
- Respond to community needs in a flexible, fast-paced environment
- Administer naloxone and respond to crisis situations as needed
- Maintain accurate records and complete required data entry

- Comfortable working in high-stress, frontline environments
- A strong communicator who can be both compassionate and direct
- Able to work independently and as part of a team

Lived experience is highly valued.

What You Bring

- Experience working in community-based settings (North End experience is an asset)
- Understanding of the impacts of colonization, residential schools, the child welfare system, and systemic inequities
- Knowledge of Indigenous teachings, cultural practices, and community resources
- Experience supporting individuals impacted by poverty, homelessness, mental health, substance use, and gender-based violence
- Knowledge of harm reduction practices and safer drug-use supplies
- Basic computer and administrative skills

Requirements

- Willingness and ability to administer naloxone
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physical tasks (standing, bending, stairs)
- Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check
- First Aid/CPR, ASIST, and de-escalation training (or willingness to obtain)
- Valid Class 5 license is MANDATORY
