About Us
We are a rapidly growing biotechnology company developing next-generation molecular diagnostics, automated laboratory instruments, sequencing technologies, and advanced reagents used in public health, environmental monitoring, biodefense, and life science research.
Our team combines chemistry, molecular biology, engineering, automation, and software to develop products from concept through commercialization. We move quickly, solve challenging technical problems, and build technologies that have real-world impact.
We're looking for a hands-on Molecular Chemist who enjoys designing experiments, solving difficult formulation challenges, and developing robust products for manufacturing.
The Role
As a Molecular Chemist, you'll develop and optimize the chemistries that power our products, including PCR, qPCR, isothermal amplification, nucleic acid extraction, sequencing workflows, and reagent formulations.
This is a laboratory-focused product development role where you'll work closely with molecular biologists, engineers, and manufacturing teams to create reliable, scalable, and commercially successful products.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize molecular biology reagent formulations
- Design and execute laboratory experiments
- Optimize PCR, RT-PCR, qPCR, and isothermal amplification chemistries
- Develop buffers, enzymes, and reaction mixes for performance and stability
- Support nucleic acid extraction and purification chemistry development
- Investigate product performance issues and identify root causes
- Design stability studies and evaluate reagent shelf life
- Analyze experimental data and recommend improvements
- Prepare technical documentation and experimental reports
- Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to transition products into production
- Stay current with advances in molecular biology and reagent technologies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (BSc) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Chemical Biology, or a related field
- Strong laboratory experience in molecular biology or analytical chemistry
- Experience designing and troubleshooting laboratory experiments
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced product development setting
Equivalent laboratory or industry experience is valued as highly as formal education.
Preferred Experience
Experience with one or more of the following is considered an asset:
- PCR, RT-PCR, qPCR, or digital PCR
- LAMP, RPA, or other isothermal amplification methods
- DNA or RNA extraction chemistry
- Enzyme formulation or stabilization
- Lyophilization or reagent stabilization
- Buffer formulation and optimization
- Protein chemistry
- Nanopore sequencing workflows
- Analytical instrumentation
- Method validation
- Biotechnology or diagnostics product development
- GMP or ISO-regulated environments
What Success Looks Like
- Reagent formulations are reliable, reproducible, and scalable
- Experiments are thoughtfully designed and efficiently executed
- Technical problems are solved quickly using data-driven approaches
- Products transition successfully from development into manufacturing
- Documentation is accurate, organized, and complete
- New ideas improve product performance, stability, manufacturability, or cost
AI-Native Workplace
We believe AI is becoming an essential tool for modern scientific research and product development.
Our scientists regularly use Claude Code, ChatGPT, and other AI-powered tools to accelerate literature reviews, protocol development, experimental design, troubleshooting, data analysis, and documentation. Candidates should be excited to integrate AI into their daily workflow.
Why Join Us?
- Develop innovative molecular diagnostic and sequencing technologies
- Work with a multidisciplinary team of chemists, biologists, engineers, and software developers
- See your work become commercial products used around the world
- Access modern laboratory equipment and cutting-edge technologies
- Competitive salary based on experience
- Paid vacation
- Significant opportunities for growth opportunities as the company expands
