The Haven Hostel – Thunder Bay, ON

Not your typical reception job.

At The Haven Hostel, we're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys meeting people and creating an experience guests remember. You'll be the first person guests see when they arrive, the one pouring them a drink after a long day of travelling, and the person who helps turn strangers into new friends.

If you thrive in a social environment, can keep your cool when things get busy, and know how to make people feel welcome, we'd love to meet you.

What you'll be doing

- Greeting guests with a friendly, welcoming attitude
- Checking guests in and out
- Serving beer, wine, and other beverages from our licensed bar
- Creating a fun, relaxed atmosphere in our common areas
- Answering guest questions and sharing recommendations for Thunder Bay
- Processing reservations and payments
- Handling phone calls and emails
- Helping keep reception, the bar, and common areas clean and organized
- Working independently while keeping everything running smoothly

We're looking for someone who:

- Loves talking to people from all over the world
- Has an outgoing, positive personality
- Can create a welcoming, social atmosphere
- Is confident working independently
- Takes initiative instead of waiting to be told what to do
- Is dependable, organized, and punctual




- Handles busy situations calmly and professionally
- Has strong customer service skills
- Can work evenings and weekends

Smart Serve certification is required (or willingness to obtain before starting).

Hours

- Part-time
- Approximately 2–3 evening shifts per week
- 4–5 hour shifts
- Opportunity for additional hours during peak season and to cover vacations or sick days.

Experience

Customer service, hospitality, retail, bartending, serving, or reception experience is an asset—but if you're the right person with the right attitude, we'd still love to hear from you.
