Job Description: Registered Practical Nurse/Registered Nurse

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Nurse Manager, the RPN or RN demonstrates knowledge of gerontological principles of nursing practice, and practices in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario Practice Standards and established organizational policies and procedures. You work in a collaborative relationship with other departments and assist individual residents and their family in responding to changing health care needs. Your skills include the ability to organize your workload, respond to emergencies, and maintain positive relations with residents and their families. Additionally, you demonstrate maturity, self-confidence, a commitment to service excellence, and the ability to work independently. You must be comfortable relating to seniors from a variety of Christian backgrounds.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

- Ensures nursing service is provided according to established nursing standards and principles and departmental policy, and initiates remedial health measures where appropriate
- Administers treatments (e.g., dressing changes,



suture/staple removal and BP monitoring, etc.) in a clinic setting, according to physician’s orders and established nursing standards and procedures
- Assesses the need for referral to a doctor and/or other health care professional or community resource
- Liaises with residents and families to ensure quality-focused resident services are available within the context of independent living
- Maintains effective communication and positive interpersonal relations with residents, families, other departments, and allied health care staff (e.g. HCCSS)
- Other duties as deemed necessary by Nurse Manager

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $28.00-$30.00 per hour

Education:

- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

Experience:

- Nursing: 10 years (required)

Language:

- English fluently (required)

Licence/Certification:

- Registered Nurse (RN) License (preferred)
