Full Job Description

We are seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and highly organized Communications Specialist to join our growing team at Shopville. This role is ideal for someone who excels at writing persuasive marketing copy, crafting engaging content, and ensuring all communications align with brand standards.

While the position includes some content creation responsibilities, such as photo and video production and editing, the primary focus is on writing, editing, and optimizing content that drives engagement, traffic, and sales across multiple marketing channels.

Key Responsibilities

- Write and edit compelling marketing copy for websites, landing pages, promotional campaigns, and digital advertisements
- Craft engaging email and SMS marketing content designed to improve open rates, click-through rates, and conversions
- Develop SEO-optimized website content, product descriptions, category pages, blogs, and other digital assets
- Review, proofread, and edit marketing materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to brand guidelines
- Collaborate with marketing, retail, operations, buyers, and leadership teams to create messaging that supports business objectives
- Write conversion-focused copy that effectively communicates value propositions and encourages customer action
- Assist with social media content creation, captions, and campaign messaging
- Support content production through basic photo and video editing for marketing initiatives
- Maintain consistency in brand voice across all customer-facing communications
- Research industry trends, competitors, and keywords to improve content performance and search visibility
- Contribute ideas for marketing campaigns, promotions, and customer engagement initiatives

Qualifications

- Exceptional written communication skills with a solid command of grammar, spelling,



and style
- Experience writing marketing copy, website content, email campaigns, or other commercial content
- Experience with content management systems and web applications such as Shopify, SproutSocial, Klaviyo, Canva, SemRush, or equivalent
- Understanding of SEO best practices and content optimization strategies
- Ability to write for multiple audiences while maintaining a consistent brand voice
- Strong proofreading and editing skills with excellent attention to detail
- Basic experience with photo and video editing software is considered an asset
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, collaborative mindset, and eagerness to contribute to a growing team

Preferred Experience

- 1+ years of experience in copywriting, content marketing, communications, journalism, or digital marketing
- Degree or diploma in marketing, creative writing, communications, journalism, or equivalent
- Experience writing SEO-focused content that drives organic traffic
- Experience creating marketing content for e-commerce or retail businesses is considered an asset
- Reliable access to transportation between our office and retail locations
- Ability to travel outside of Canada, including the USA
