Established in 2023, Ascension Manufacturing thrives in the field of Machining, Fabrication and Rebuild. We tackle any project, including but not limited to custom machining of various metals and tolerances, equipment rebuilds, retro fit, and fabrication. Our team is always up for a challenge.

Roles and Responsibilities

We are currently looking for a skilled and motivated Machinist to operate a variety of machines to complete given projects & tasks. You will be expected to produce/repair precision parts using both automated and manual equipment with accurate measurements. We are looking for an experienced individual with a keen eye for detail, can work independently while demonstrating and adhering to Health and Safety precautions.

A strong candidate will demonstrate a solid ability to:

- Review drawings, instructions or sample parts to grasp the specifications of the project
- Plan and organize the sequence of actions needed for completion
- Select and setup the appropriate machines
- Calculate and set controls to regulate speeds and feeds to complete work in a controlled and safe manner.
- Perform quality control on pieces produced to ensure they are within the proper specifications
- Keep track of good and scrap parts
- Perform routine machine maintenance and carry out minor repairs when necessary to ensure the machines are working properly
- It is an added benefit to be able to draw and generate programs with MasterCAM, as well as make programs on CNC controllers on shop floor

Qualifications and Core Skills

- Should have own set of basic tools to support their machinist trade (micrometers, indicators, caliper etc.)
- At least 5 years’ experience in the field as a machinist
- Highly proficient on manual lathes and milling machines




- Experience using/programming manual, semi-automatic or automatic tools and machines
- Ability to properly use precision tools to take accurate measurements
- Solid knowledge of the properties of metals and other materials
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints and manuals
- Solid math and analytical skills
- Proficient in the use of CAD software is an added benefit
- Mastercam experience is an asset
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Works well independently but also great in team settings
- Red Seal Certified would be considered an asset

Work Conditions

- Ability to stand for a lengthy period
- Ability to physically lift up to 50lbs
- Overtime as required
- Weekend work may be required

Remuneration

As a progressive employer, Ascension Manufacturing strives to offer competitive wages and vacation packages, while supporting the continual growth and development of our employees. Training for a variety of skills is available through internal and external training offerings. Employee progress will be evaluated annually through performance reviews.

Starting wage rates/hour will follow the ranges below and will be determined based on skill and experience:

- Rate $35.00 - $42.00/hr
