No prior experience is required—comprehensive training will be provided. The Pharmacy Assistant plays an essential role in supporting the pharmacist with prescription preparation, administrative duties, and customer service. This position helps ensure smooth daily operations and allows the pharmacist to focus on patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Prescription Processing & Technical Support

- Receive and review prescriptions, ensuring compliance with provincial legal and regulatory requirements.
- Perform computer-based functions such as data entry, price verification, and patient information updates.
- Prepare prescriptions for pharmacist verification: count or measure medications, perform DIN and visual checks, print labels, and organize completed prescriptions.
- Generate refill reports, check patient profiles, and obtain approval for authorized refills as directed.

Inventory & Housekeeping





- Assist in maintaining accurate medication and supply inventory levels.
- Identify and remove expired medications.
- Replenish prescription-filling supplies such as vials, labels, and bags.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe dispensary, including equipment and shared work areas.

Clerical & Administrative Support

- File prescriptions, invoices, reports, and correspondence accurately.
- Support administrative processes such as account reconciliation, journals, and reporting.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and documentation.

Customer Service & OTC Support

- Greet and assist customers in a friendly, skilled, and compassionate manner.
- Answer phones and process customer transactions at the till.
- Support over-the-counter (OTC) operations, including ordering, stocking, merchandising, and cashier duties as assigned by the OTC Manager and/or pharmacist
