Job Overview

The Director of Community Services provides leadership, operational oversight, and strategic direction for all community-based programs operated by Tamitik Status of Women. This includes outreach, prevention, counselling, cultural programming, family support services, community supports, and future programs developed by the organization.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director is responsible for program quality, staff leadership, compliance, reporting, service delivery, risk management, contract administration, grant development, and continuous improvement across multiple service areas.

The successful candidate will be a strong leader with experience managing multiple programs, supporting teams in complex environments, building community partnerships, and ensuring programs meet funding, contractual, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Education

- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Equivalent education and experience may be considered.

Experience

- Minimum 5 years of senior management experience with responsibility for staff supervision, program operations, budgeting, strategic planning, and service delivery.
- Experience managing multiple community service programs and supporting teams in complex or crisis-driven environments.
- Experience leading managers, coordinators, and multidisciplinary teams.

Knowledge & Skills

- Strong understanding of the anti-violence sector and related community issues.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, funding requirements, quality standards, and best practices.
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong relationship-building skills with staff, partners, funders, and community stakeholders.
- Commitment to culturally safe, trauma-informed, and client-centered service delivery.

Additional Requirements

- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Clear Criminal Record Check and willingness to disclose any changes in criminal record status.
- Ability to travel and attend community meetings,



training, and events as required.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Program Operations

- Provide leadership and oversight for all community service programs.
- Ensure services are delivered safely, effectively, and in alignment with organizational policies and best practices.
- Support strategic planning, service development, and organizational growth.
- Monitor program performance, service utilization, community needs, and outcomes.
- Identify service gaps and implement improvement initiatives.
- Promote culturally safe, trauma-informed, and client-centered services.
- Support organizational operations within a 24/7 service environment, ensuring appropriate leadership coverage, escalation processes, staffing plans, and operational readiness to respond to urgent, after-hours, and critical service needs.

Staff Leadership & Workforce Development

- Supervise Managers, Coordinators, Program Leads, and designated leadership staff.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance management.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, retention, and succession planning.
- Foster a respectful, collaborative, and accountable workplace culture.
- Support staff in addressing complex client, workplace, and service challenges.

Compliance, Reporting & Quality Assurance

- Ensure compliance with legislation, funding agreements, licensing requirements, and organizational policies.
- Oversee program reporting, documentation, data collection, and information management practices.
- Support audits, accreditation reviews, evaluations, and compliance activities.
- Implement quality assurance processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor program outcomes and performance indicators.

Funding & Grant Development

- Research and identify funding, grant,



and program development opportunities.
- Prepare grant applications, funding proposals, and supporting documentation.
- Work collaboratively with leadership, finance staff, and community partners on funding initiatives.
- Monitor grant deliverables, reporting requirements, and funding outcomes.

Community Partnerships & Representation

- Build and maintain strong relationships with community agencies, government representatives, health providers, and stakeholders.
- Represent the organization at meetings, committees, and community initiatives.
- Support collaborative partnerships that strengthen services and community impact.

Risk Management & Client Services

- Provide leadership in resolving complex client concerns, complaints, and service issues.
- Support staff in managing crisis situations and high-risk service concerns.
- Ensure timely investigation and resolution of concerns and incidents.
- Escalate significant risks and compliance concerns to the Executive Director.

Senior Leadership

- Serve as an active member of the Senior Leadership Team.
- Contribute to organizational planning, policy development, and strategic initiatives.
- Support future program development, expansion, and organizational growth.

The ideal candidate has experience leading programs in a complex human services environment and understands the operational requirements of services that may operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including emergency response, crisis management, staff support, and service continuity planning.

Pay: From $40.00 per hour
