Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Maki Sushi Roller to join our vibrant culinary team. We are a busy viral sushi shop on Baldwin St. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of food safety standards, and experience in food preparation and service. This role involves preparing high-quality sushi rolls in a fast-paced restaurant environment, ensuring an exceptional experience for our guests. Candidates with restaurant or kitchen experience, especially within the food industry, are encouraged to apply. We are adaptable. Open to 3-4 hour lunch rush shifts, if that works for you as well as full shifts.

Responsibilities

- Skillfully prepare and roll Maki sushi according to established recipes and presentation standards working in an open kitchen
- Assist in the preparation of other sushi items and related Japanese cuisine
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station in compliance with food safety regulations
- Handle food ingredients with proper hygiene practices and ensure freshness at all times




- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service during busy hours
- Interact with customers and influencers
- Follow all food handling, safety, and sanitation procedures diligently
- Contribute to a positive team environment by supporting colleagues and maintaining professional conduct

Experience

- Prior experience in serving, food preparation, or cooking within a restaurant or food service setting is preferred
- Knowledge of food handling, safety standards, and meal preparation techniques is highly desirable
- Experience working in the food industry in an open kitchen environment
- Must have sushi making experience, especially Maki and Futomaki rolls
- Familiarity with a variety of fish; Otoro, Chutoro, Akami, Madai, Hamachi, Kampachi...
- Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and adherence to health regulations are essential for success in this role

Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
