Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic Apprentice to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, servicing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery equipment at our worksites. This role requires strong mechanical expertise, hands-on experience with various tools, and the ability to work efficiently in a rapid-paced environment. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic Apprentice will ensure all equipment operates safely and reliably, supporting our operational needs across multiple site.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair heavy equipment such as excavators and backhoes.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and inspections to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.
- Utilize schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues.
- Conduct welding, assembly, and replacement of parts using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
- Operate heavy machinery for testing purposes after repairs to ensure proper functioning.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure safety protocols are followed during all repair activities.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations during all repair procedures.
Skills
- Proven experience in dealership or industrial equipment repair with experience with excavators.
- Strong mechanical knowledge.
- Hands-on experience with welding, assembly, and use of hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate heavy equipment when necessary.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in diagnosing issues accurately.
- The ability to communicate effectively with team members regarding repairs or maintenance needs.
