Contribution:

The Facilitator Assistant works with the Facilitator in service delivery using appropriate

program model, for specified group.

Qualifications:

1. Grade 12, plus program specific training when required.

2. Early Childhood Assistant Certificate or equivalent training working with preschool

age children.

3. A minimum of 6 months relevant experience working with preschool age children

and their families.

4. Food Safe, when required.

Job skills and abilities:

1. Ability to work in a team environment as a contributing member of that team.
2. Ability to provide care and mature guidance to children.
3. Ability to work with parents in an educational format, using respectful assertive

communication skills.
4. Knowledge of parenting education and community resources.

Responsibilities:

1.



Understand and operate within the program service delivery model.

2. Carries out developmentally appropriate activities and experiences for children

using modelling, observing, questioning, demonstrating and reinforcing techniques.

3. Assist facilitator in ensuring that the necessary equipment, materials and snacks are

available for all sessions. Assist with cleanup of space at conclusion of group.

4. Purchase snacks for group, when required.

5. Provide input in program delivery and/or feedback to facilitator regarding group

dynamics.

6. Facilitates group song and story times.

7. Set up program materials for group, ensures a healthy and safe environment in

which the children can interact. Identifies and removes potential hazards.

8. Interact with the children and parents in a manner that clearly conveys acceptance

and understanding.

9. Model appropriate communication and disciplinary strategies with children.

10. Attends staff meetings as required.

11. Other related duties as required.

Requirements:

1. Criminal Record Review.

2. Signed confidentiality form.

3. Approved reference check.

4. Immunization record.

Plan with a matching contribution by SSCS.
