Position Overview

Backstreet Concrete Inc. is seeking an experienced and reliable Lead Hand to support and oversee day-to-day operations on concrete construction sites. The Lead Hand will work closely with supervisors and project managers to coordinate tasks, guide crew members, and ensure quality and safety standards are consistently met.

Responsibilities

- Lead and support crew members in completing concrete construction tasks.
- Assist with the planning and organization of daily work activities.
- Provide hands-on support with formwork, pouring, placing, and finishing concrete.
- Ensure materials, equipment, and tools are used safely and efficiently.
- Communicate instructions from supervisors and ensure tasks are carried out correctly.
- Train and mentor labourers and apprentices as required.
- Monitor site safety and enforce the use of PPE and safe work practices.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and productive worksite.
- Report progress, issues, and needs to supervisors and project managers.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support successful project completion.

Qualifications





- 2+ years of experience in concrete construction or related trades.
- Strong knowledge of formwork, rebar placement, and concrete finishing techniques.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience supervising small teams.
- Physically fit and capable of performing labour-intensive tasks.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or in a team.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are an asset.

Work Conditions

- Work is primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Exposure to dust, noise, and heavy equipment.
