Job Overview

We are seeking a friendly and efficient Food Counter Attendant to join our team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, preparing and serving food, handling transactions, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in food service, strong time management skills, and a passion for delivering a positive customer service experience. This position offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced cafe setting, supporting daily operations and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Duties

- Take customer orders accurately at the counter area.
- Address customer inquiries and resolve complaints promptly with a friendly, professional, and positive attitude.
- Process guest payments using electronic point-of-sale (POS) systems, cash, debit, and credit cards.
- Package and serve hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, sodas, and specialty blended drinks.
- Replenish food stations, condiments, sauces, utensils, napkins, and packaging supplies to maintain efficient service flow.
- Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely, including panini grill, microwaves, drink dispensers, and espresso machines.
- Portion, assemble, and wrap breakfast items, sandwiches, and mac ‘n cheese for dine-in or take out.
- Place pre-portioned, frozen baked goods (including cookies, strudels, scones, sausage rolls, spanakopita, samosa and quiche )into commercial ovens according to pre-set timers.
- Monitor oven timers and visually inspect baked goods to ensure proper finishing and quality.
- Arrange finished baked goods in display cases and restock food stations throughout the shift.
- Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, service counters, visual displays, seating areas, and guest tables.
- Clean, sanitize, and maintain front-of-house food display cases, including gelato freezers and serving stations.
- Empty trash cans, sweep and mop floors,



and maintain overall cleanliness of both front-of-house and back-of-house areas.
- Maintain food safety standards by monitoring holding temperatures, tracking product expiry dates, and rotating stock using the FIFO (First-In, First-Out) method.
- Unpack and store incoming food deliveries and supplies in designated refrigerators, freezers and storage areas.

Hours, Schedule & Working Conditions:

- Hours: 30 to 40 hours per week (Full-time hours are guaranteed year-round).
- Schedule: Must be available to work a flexible, rotating schedule including mornings, days, evenings, and weekends. Shift start times vary based on operational needs and can begin as early as 6:00 AM.
- Seasonal Hours: Operating hours are seasonal. Must be available to work shifts until 10:00 PM during the summer peak season, and shifts until 8:00 PM during the lean season.
- Work Conditions: Fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail; standing for extended periods; repetitive tasks; ability to lift up to 25lbs.
- Work Location: In Person

Employment Requirements:

- Education: No formal education or degree required.
- Experience: Will train. (No experience required).
- Language: Basic spoken English is required to safely interact with customers and staff.
