Underground Shallow Utility Worker – FTTH

Chemco is seeking Shallow Utility Workers to support installation of underground infrastructure for fibre optic and associated distribution components for connection of residential and business in Powerview-Pine Falls, Bissett, Lac du Bonnet, Point Du Bois, Nopiming, and surrounding Manitoba project areas.

This full-time seasonal field role is suited for reliable, safety-focused individuals with shallow utility, construction, or underground utility experience. The successful candidate will work outdoors as part of a field crew completing fibre optic installations safely, efficiently, and to project specifications.

What You’ll Do

- Support the installation of underground fibre optic and related shallow utility infrastructure.
- Work safely around vehicles, equipment, pedestrians, traffic, and other crews in residential and municipal areas.
- Operate vehicles, small equipment, hand tools, and power tools in accordance with company, client, and municipal requirements.
- Drive to and from assigned work locations and complete daily field tasks as directed.
- Assist with site setup, material handling, trenching, backfilling, clean-up, and restoration activities.
- Inspect, maintain, and report concerns with vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Follow Chemco safety policies, client requirements, and applicable municipal rules for working on streets and in residential areas.

What We’re Looking For





- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and ability to travel to assigned Manitoba project locations.
- Ability to work out of town, weekends, nights, or extended hours when required during the build season.
- Solid communication skills and the ability to work effectively independently and within a team.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Valid CSTS and WHMIS certifications, or willingness to obtain before starting work if required.
- FTTH, shallow utility, underground construction, landscaping, labourer, or equipment experience is considered an asset but is not required.

Employment Details

- Location: Powerview-Pine Falls, Point Du Bois, Bisset, Nopiming, Lac Du Bonnet areas.
- Job Type: Full-time seasonal work.
- Schedule: Weekend and night work may be required during the build season.
- Compensation: Pay will be based on experience, qualifications, and project requirements.
