About Wilderness Supply Co.
Wilderness Supply Co. is looking for a motivated, personable, and customer-focused Retail Sales Associate to join our team. We are a local outdoor retail store serving customers who love paddling, camping, hiking, travel, and self-propelled adventure.
We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a genuine interest in helping customers find the right gear for their needs.
Job Summary
The Retail Sales Associate is responsible for providing excellent customer service in a friendly, professional, and knowledgeable manner. This role includes assisting customers on the sales floor, processing transactions, supporting merchandising and displays, restocking product, receiving inventory, maintaining store cleanliness, and helping create a welcoming shopping experience.
The ideal candidate is dependable, energetic, detail-oriented, and willing to learn about outdoor products and retail operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and acknowledge customers in a timely, friendly and helpful manner
- Provide excellent customer service and assist customers with product questions
- Build strong customer relationships through professional and knowledgeable service
- Maintain product knowledge and continue learning about outdoor gear and store products
- Process cash register transactions, including sales, refunds, and special orders
- Restock shelves, receive inventory, and help maintain accurate product placement
- Assist with repricing, tagging, merchandising, and floor displays
- Maintain awareness of current promotions, sales, and advertisements
- Help keep the store clean, organized, and presentable
- Communicate customer requests,
product feedback, and concerns to management
- Assist with floor moves, display maintenance, and general store upkeep
- Support the team with daily tasks as assigned by management
Qualifications
- Completion of high school
- Drivers licence
- Previous retail experience is an asset, especially in outdoor, sporting goods, clothing, paddling, camping, or related retail
- Robust customer service skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Positive, energetic, and team-oriented attitude
- Organized, dependable, and detail-oriented
- Willingness to learn about outdoor products and retail systems
- Comfortable using computerized systems and point-of-sale software
- Ability to read, count, and write accurately to complete documentation
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to move, lift, and handle boxes and boats up to 50lbs
- Must be willing to undergo a Criminal Record Check
