POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Head Chef and Haida House Operations Team, the Dishwasher / Steward / Houseman plays a key support role across kitchen, dining, and lodge operations. This position is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, organization, and sanitation standards throughout the kitchen and public back-of-house areas, while providing flexible operational support to ensure safe, productive, and welcoming guest experiences.

Duties and Responsibilities

Dishwashing & Kitchen Support

- Maintain a clean and organized dishwashing area at all times

- Wash, sanitize, stack, and store dishes, glassware, silverware, cookware, and kitchen equipment

- Operate commercial dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently

- Ensure kitchen floors are clean, dry, and free from hazards

- Assist with basic food preparation and kitchen tasks as required

- Empty, clean, and manage garbage and recycling in kitchen areas





- Support proper storage of food deliveries and maintain organized dry storage areas

Stewarding & Facility Support

- Support the cleanliness and organization of kitchen, restaurant, and back-of-house areas

- Assist with cleaning and resetting dining and service areas

- Support cleaning and sanitation during and after service periods

- Replenish cleaning supplies and report low inventory or maintenance issues

Houseman Duties

- Assist with moving furniture, setting up and breaking down for events or group bookings

- Support housekeeping or lodge operations with light cleaning, trash removal, and general tidiness in public and staff areas

- Assist with laundry support, deliveries, or other operational tasks as required

- Outdoor cleaning / power washing

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically active environment

- Willingness to support multiple departments as needed

- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks

- Strong teamwork skills and a positive, reliable attitude

- Good time management and ability to follow directions

Training, Education and Experience

- Previous kitchen, stewarding, housekeeping, or hospitality experience is an asset

- FoodSafe Level 1 Certification is considered an asset (training may be provided)
