Position: Accounting Manager (Individual Contributor)
Location: Toronto, ON - Hybrid 2 days onsite ( Wed & Thurs)
Duration: Through December 2026 with potential extension
Work Schedule: 40 hrs/week (8 hrs/day, Mon-Fri)
Engagement: T4 hourly + advantages

Role Overview

This is an individual contributor role at the Accounting Manager level, focused heavily on GL accounting, close processes, and process optimization. You'll help absorb responsibilities during a Director-level gap while working cross-functionally to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

- Own and execute core general ledger accounting activities , including:
- Journal entries and posting
- Accruals (prepare and review)
- Account reconciliations
- Support and help drive the monthly close process , including:
- AP close (Day -6) and GL close initiation (Day -5)
- P&L; completion by Workday Day 3
- Balance Sheet entries by Day 4
- Financial uploads by Day 5
- Perform detailed Balance Sheet and P&L; reviews , including commentary and variance analysis
- Step in to support broader team needs and fill gaps during leadership transition
- Identify opportunities to streamline and standardize global accounting processes
- Drive process improvement and automation , with a focus on:
- Accrual and reconciliation calculations




- System integrations (NetSuite with Excel and Google Sheets)
- Ensure proper handling of sensitive financial data, including file anonymization where applicable
- Partner cross-functionally, including potential overlap with payroll accounting

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, with strong exposure to GL and close processes
- Industry experience – ideally technology/SaaS background – avoid manufacturing/healthcare
- Proven experience at the Accounting Manager level (hands-on IC role)
- Strong expertise in accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Experience working in global or multi-entity environments preferred
- Experienced with NetSuite and FloQast strongly preferred but not required
- Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and automation initiatives
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Nice to Have

- Experience leveraging automation or AI tools in accounting processes
- Exposure to payroll accounting

Pay: $38.00-$40.00 per hour

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Toronto, ON (Toronto District)
