Senior Financial Accountant (Contract)

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established organization seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join their finance team on a 12-18 month contract. This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives on delivering accurate financial reporting, improving processes, and partnering with teams across the business. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the timely and accurate completion of monthly financial reporting while supporting the broader finance team with year-end activities, compliance, and ongoing projects.Key Responsibilities
Assist with the monthly close process, including preparing working papers, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and posting journal entriesPrepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages for senior leadership and external stakeholdersPrepare and file regulatory returns, including GST/HST, WCB, royalties, and other required filingsMaintain customer and vendor records and related financial informationSupport the year-end audit process and coordinate with external auditorsContribute to finance initiatives and continuous improvement projectsProvide support across the finance department as neededWhat We’re Looking For




CPA designation (required)Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field5+ years of progressive accounting experienceStrong knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE)Experience with full-cycle accounting, including purchasing and billingExcellent analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detailStrong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing prioritiesEffective communication and relationship-building skills across all levels of an organizationComfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adapting to changing prioritiesAdvanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePointExperience with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software is considered an assetExperience in the mining or manufacturing industry is considered an assetThe Ideal Candidate
