Respite Support Worker – Independent Contractor
Cornerstones Special Needs Services

Cornerstones is seeking reliable, independent contractors to support individuals with complex/high-behavioural needs.

Supports take place in the individual’s home and in the community. Our goal is to provide safe, meaningful, individualized care while supporting independence, life skills, recreation, and community inclusion.

Responsibilities:

- Provide one-to-one support using positive behaviour strategies and clear boundaries
- Support individuals at home and during community outings and activities
- Assist with personal care, meals, daily living routines, and safety needs as required
- Complete daily documentation and incident reports
- Communicate professionally with families, staff, and management
- Follow all Cornerstones policies, support plans, and safety procedures

Required Qualifications — applicants must have all of the following:

- Minimum one year of direct experience supporting individuals with high behavioural or complex needs
- Previous experience working in the developmental services, social services,



or related field
- MUST have Current First Aid and CPR Level C
- MUST Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check
- MUST have Current CPI/NVCI or equivalent behaviour-management training
- Strong communication, documentation, and crisis-management skills
- Ability to work calmly, safely, and respectfully in challenging situations

MUST have DSW, CYW, SSW, or related education is an asset.

Flexible contractor shifts are available, including weekdays, evenings, weekends, and overnight support as needed.

Pay: $22.00-$30.00 per hour
