We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support indirect tax activities for a manufacturing organization based in Pickering, Ontario. This Long-term Contract position focuses on sales and use tax compliance, reporting accuracy, and coordination with internal teams to meet multi-jurisdictional obligations. The successful candidate will bring a strong accounting foundation, sound judgement, and the ability to manage deadlines in a rapid-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and submit indirect tax filings, including sales, use, and personal property tax returns, in accordance with monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting schedules.
- Review tax calculations and arrange remittances to ensure payments are completed accurately and on time across various jurisdictions.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory updates affecting indirect tax and apply those changes to ongoing compliance processes.
- Reconcile tax-related accounts, investigate variances in the general ledger, and maintain reliable supporting documentation.
- Coordinate audit support by compiling records, responding to information requests, and helping resolve assessments or notices from tax authorities.
- Administer resale and exemption certificate records by gathering, validating, and retaining required documentation.
- Work closely with Accounting, Finance, Legal, IT, and commercial teams to address tax questions and assess implications for business activities.
- Contribute to process improvements and support tax-related system or workflow updates when required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- 2–5 years of experience in U.S. sales and use tax or broader indirect tax compliance.




- Solid knowledge of multi-state sales and use tax rules and practical experience working across several jurisdictions.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare filings, perform account reconciliations, and maintain accuracy under tight deadlines.
- Strong Excel skills and hands-on experience with accounting or ERP platforms such as NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP.
- Familiarity with journal entries, general ledger activity, bank reconciliations, and month-end accounting processes.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with a detail-oriented and collaborative approach.
