Academic Plastic Surgeon

McMaster University in conjunction with Hamilton Health Sciences and McMaster Children’s Hospital is seeking a full-time academic plastic surgeon to be based at McMaster Children’s Hospital.

MCH is a globally renowned pediatric hospital dedicated to children’s health delivering excellence in clinical care, child health research and education. It is home to some of the country’s most respected pediatric care programs, including Canada’s largest NICU and the largest prosthetic and orthotics facility of its kind. MCH also houses one of Ontario’s fastest-growing pediatric emergency department and largest inpatient child and youth mental health unit, and more. MCH is undergoing the most significant expansion in its history, fueled by a landmark provincial investment to expand critical services, add top-tier clinicians, and improve access to cutting-edge pediatric care for families across Ontario.

The Division of Plastic Surgery together with McMaster University is a fully accredited Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada training program in Plastic Surgery with full involvement in undergraduate, post-graduate, and continuing medical education programs. Evidence of interpersonal and collaborative skills and initiative to further advance the productivity of the Division, and the mission of the university and the hospital will be required. A commitment and demonstrated interest in surgical education at all levels is essential, as well as active participation in research programs and academic initiatives of the Plastic Surgery Service and Division. A Master’s degree will be required, or a commitment to pursue upon hiring. This is a full-time faculty position for a period of three years (renewable) in the "Special" Appointment Category in the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Health Sciences. Academic rank will commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

The successful candidate must have (or be eligible for) Certification in Plastic Surgery by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada as well as licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Formal post residency fellowship training in Pediatric Plastic Surgery or Hand Surgery would be a robust asset .

Compensation for Clinical Faculty is derived from multiple sources and varies based on clinical activity,



speciality, and practice arrangements. Compensation may include a combination of university-based salary, stipends, hospital or partner organization funding, and earnings through clinical practice plans.
