Role: Design Engineering

Dowclear is a rapidly growing environmental solutions start-up headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario. We specialize in developing innovative technologies, products, and solutions, and we are actively launching products for commercial applications.

As a small and dynamic organization, we offer a unique launchpad for a recent engineering graduate to kick-start their career. We wear many hats, and we provide an incredible opportunity for an eager, hands-on learner to develop a massive range of real-world skills while helping our company grow!

What You Will Do & Learn

You won't be stuck behind a desk doing just one thing. As a core member of our team, you will get hands-on experience and mentorship across all aspects of our business:

Mechanical Design

Process design, PIDs, mechanical layout design, subcomponent design selection, and component fabrication designs.

Electrical & Controls

Power distribution, control system/panel design, PLC & HMI programming, plus system factory and field testing.

Project Management

Customer communications, report writing, subcomponent procurement, managing subcontractors, budgets, schedules, and post-sale support.

Product Development

Design modelling, bench testing, pilot testing, and field trials.

Environmental Solutions

Jar testing,



bench testing, and specialized process design.

Sales & Applications

Assisting in developing custom environmental solutions, writing, and costing proposals.

Manufacturing Support

Providing technical direction during fabrication and assembly and stepping in to help with hands-on assembly as required.

What You Bring to the Table

We are looking for a highly motivated problem solver who enjoys building tangible solutions and is eager to soak up new knowledge.

Education

Recent University Engineering degree or relevant experience

Core Attributes

A strong problem solver who is a "doer", loves hands-on work, and has a passion for learning and developing their capabilities.

Technical Skills

Valuable working knowledge of 2D and/or 3D CAD, Microsoft Excel and Word. You naturally enjoy working with tools and building solutions.

Experience

Academic projects, co-op terms, or experience in project management, design, or prototyping is a strong asset. Has hands-on technical experience.

Communication

Strong communication skills in English. Bilingualism in French is an asset.
