Clinical Director – Mental Health & Addictions

Location: Cranbrook, British Columbia

Position Type: Management (non-union)

Hours: 22.5 hours per week (3 days), with the potential to increase to 30 hours per week (4 days)

Salary: Pro-rated from $107,604–$114,660 annually

East Kootenay Addiction Services Society (EKASS) is a community-based, not-for-profit

organization providing evidence-informed addiction and mental health services throughout the

East Kootenay region.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Clinical Director provides strategic and operational

leadership for EKASS's clinical programs and services.

The Clinical Director is responsible for ensuring high-quality, evidence-informed, trauma-

informed, and client-centred services that align with EKASS's mission, strategic priorities, and

contractual obligations.

Working collaboratively with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors, the Clinical

Director leads and mentors a multidisciplinary clinical team while fostering clinical excellence,

innovation, accountability, and continuous quality improvement.

The Clinical Director supports a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, respect, and psychological

safety where employees are empowered to grow professionally while delivering exceptional

client care.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership

 Provide strategic leadership and oversight of all clinical programs and services.

 Promote evidence-informed, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented practice.

 Mentor and support a multidisciplinary clinical team.

 Foster clinical excellence, ethical practice, and continuous quality improvement.

 Lead clinical program development and innovation.

 Promote culturally responsive and client-centred service delivery.

Human Resources & Labour Relations

 Recruit, supervise, mentor, and support clinical staff.

 Conduct performance reviews and professional development planning.

 Foster employee engagement, collaboration, and psychological safety.





 Administer the collective agreement and participate in labour relations processes.

 Address performance concerns respectfully, fairly, and consistently.

Quality, Risk & Compliance

 Ensure compliance with legislation, professional standards, and funding requirements.

 Monitor clinical outcomes and quality indicators.

 Lead continuous quality improvement initiatives.

 Develop and maintain clinical policies and procedures.

 Promote client safety and staff wellness.

Organizational Leadership

 Collaborate with the Executive Director in strategic planning, budgeting, and

organizational priorities.

 Prepare reports and recommendations regarding clinical programs and outcomes.

 Support organizational sustainability and service excellence.

 Contribute to organizational policy development.

Community Partnerships

 Develop and maintain strong relationships with Interior Health, community agencies,

Indigenous partners, and other stakeholders.

 Represent EKASS within regional initiatives and professional networks.

 Advocate for accessible, high-quality addiction and mental health services.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

 Master’s degree in clinical social work, Clinical Counselling, Psychology, Master of

Education (Counselling), or another related clinical discipline.

 Minimum four years of progressive clinical leadership experience, preferably in mental

health and addictions, or community health.

 Minimum six years of clinical practice experience.





 Experience supervising multidisciplinary clinical teams.

 Strong knowledge of trauma-informed care, addictions, mental health, and community-

based practice.

 Experience working within a unionized environment.

 Experience in quality improvement, program development, and organizational change.
