We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Preparer to join our team. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of traditional and modern sushi preparation techniques, a commitment to quality and presentation, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment. You will play a key role in delivering an exceptional dining experience through precision, creativity, and consistency.
Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, maki rolls, and specialty items
- Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and handled according to food safety standards
- Maintain high standards of food presentation and portion control
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth and timely service
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area
- Follow all health and safety regulations
- Contribute to menu development and suggest new dishes or seasonal offerings
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of sushi preparation techniques and Japanese cuisine
- Excellent knife skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Understanding of food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Culinary certification or formal training is an asset
- FoodSafe Level 1
