Applewood Auto Group is looking for a full-time Service Manager at Applewood Nissan Surrey.

The Service Manager is responsible for leading the overall performance of the Service Department, including customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, profitability, team development, and customer retention. The successful candidate will be a strong people leader with automotive service management experience and a proven ability to deliver exceptional results.

This is a full-time position. This store is unionized, therefore experience in working and managing in a unionized environment is an asset.

Role and Responsibilities

Lead and develop the Service team: Provide leadership, coaching, training, and performance management to Service Advisors, Technicians, Apprentices, and other Service Department team members.

Deliver an exceptional customer experience: Ensure every customer receives timely, professional, and transparent service while promptly addressing and resolving customer concerns.

Manage departmental performance: Monitor sales, gross profit, expenses, productivity, efficiency, labour performance, repair-order volume, and other key performance indicators.

Oversee daily Service operations: Manage workflow, scheduling, repair-order progress, technician capacity, and communication between the Service, Parts, and Sales departments.

Drive service sales and customer retention: Identify opportunities to grow service revenue, improve customer retention, and increase the acceptance of recommended maintenance and repair services.

Support technician productivity: Ensure work is assigned effectively, required parts and information are available, and repairs are completed accurately and within expected timelines.

Maintain manufacturer and company standards: Ensure the department complies with OEM requirements, warranty procedures, company policies,



employment standards, and health and safety requirements.

Manage quality control: Monitor repair quality, reduce repeat repairs and comebacks, and ensure customer vehicles are returned in a safe, clean, and qualified condition.

Recruit and retain a strong team: Partner with Human Resources to recruit, onboard, train, and retain qualified Service Department team members.

Prepare reports and forecasts: Review departmental results, prepare forecasts and action plans, and provide regular performance updates to dealership leadership.

Measurables

Customer satisfaction: Achieve customer satisfaction and retention targets based on OEM surveys, customer feedback, and online reviews.

Department profitability: Achieve Service Department revenue, gross profit, and expense-management targets.

Technician productivity and efficiency: Monitor and improve technician productivity, efficiency, utilization, and hours produced.

Effective labour rate: Maintain or improve the department’s effective labour rate while ensuring competitive and transparent pricing.

Repair-order performance: Achieve targets related to repair-order count, average sales per repair order, gross profit per repair order, and completion timelines.

Additional service acceptance: Improve the percentage of customers who approve recommended maintenance and repair services.

Quality and comeback rate: Minimize repeat repairs, comebacks, and customer concerns by maintaining strong quality-control standards.

Customer retention:



Increase the number of customers who return to the dealership for future maintenance and repair needs.

Team performance and retention: Build an engaged, accountable, and high-performing team while supporting training, development, attendance, and retention.

Compliance: Maintain compliance with OEM standards, warranty procedures, company policies, mandatory training, and workplace health and safety requirements.

Compensation

The total compensation package for the Service Manager position at Applewood Auto Group will include a base salary and a variable performance-based component, and therefore ranges between $80,000 to $200,000.

The final compensation offered will be determined based on the successful candidate’s knowledge, skills, leadership experience, automotive background, and other relevant qualifications. Any compensation range included in this posting is provided as a general guideline and may vary based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
