We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Dispatcher to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting daily operations by managing administrative tasks and facilitating communication across various departments. This position requires strong analytical skills and proficiency in transportation management systems, logistics, and data entry.
Duties
- Manage day-to-day office operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in all administrative functions.
- Directing and organizing logistics activities that may include obtaining shipping rates or negotiating with service providers.
- Book freight loads through online load boards (e.g. Load link, ITS) and direct customer outreach.
- Track and monitor driver locations and shipment progress using GPS and dispatch software.
- Handle emergency calls, breakdowns, or delivery issues efficiently.
- Oversee dispatching activities, coordinating freight shipments and ensuring timely deliveries.
- Provide support for fleet management tasks, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette.
- Support office staff and management with general operational tasks
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Proven experience in an administrative role, preferably within the transportation or logistics industry.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with team members and clients.
- Proficiency in typing and data entry with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with transportation management systems and logistics software is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with load boards like Load link and ITS is an asset
- Experience and/or basic knowledge in accounting is an asset
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
