Job Summary

Kids Great Minds (KGM) provides engaging, technology-based learning experiences designed specifically for children and youth. We are currently seeking enthusiastic, dependable, and energetic STEM Instructors to deliver our programs at recreation facilities throughout South and West Mississauga.

As a KGM Instructor, you will teach our proprietary STEM curriculum, introducing students to topics such as coding, robotics, game development, computer animation, mathematics, science, and digital art in a fun and interactive workplace. Our programs are designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and confidence while helping students develop valuable technology skills.

The ideal candidate has a genuine passion for working with children and youth and possesses a minimum of three years of STEM teaching experience. Successful instructors are skilled, patient, adaptable, and energetic, with the ability to create a positive and engaging classroom environment. Instructors work closely with the Program Supervisor to ensure high-quality program delivery and participate in ongoing training and professional development.

Candidates should also be organized, proactive, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. Strong communication, critical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Work Schedule





We are seeking candidates with flexible availability:

- Weekdays: Monday to Friday, 4:30 p.m. –9:00 p.m.
- Weekends: Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Shifts will be scheduled based on this availability but not necessarily every day.

Expected Hours: 20–30 per week.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver KGM's curriculum and teaching materials while creating a fun, organized, and engaging learning environment.
- Teach STEM concepts through a variety of instructional methods, including hands-on activities and group learning.
- Guide students through projects with enthusiasm, structure, and effective classroom instruction.
- Support, mentor, and oversee Assistant Instructors and volunteers throughout program delivery.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Ensure students remain safe, engaged, and enjoying their learning experience.
- Manage classroom setup and cleanup, attendance, student dismissal, and all required program documentation.

Skills & Qualifications

- Minimum 3 years of experience teaching STEM programs, preferably in a classroom or instructional environment.
- Experience teaching coding is required.
- Experience working with children and youth, including individuals with special needs, is preferred.
- Energetic, patient, adaptable, and passionate about working with children.
- Willingness to quickly learn new software, technologies, and teaching tools.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace.
- Experience or familiarity with one or more of the following is considered an asset: Game Design, Programming (e.g., Scratch, Python), 3D Modeling, Computer Animation, Robotics, Virtual Reality, or App Development.





*Note: KGM provides full training and detailed lesson plans.

Requirements

- Valid G-class driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle (must be able to transport course equipment).
- Current CPR -C /First Aid certification and HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development (14 days before start).
- Must complete a Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) (14 days before start).
- Must complete online and in-person training and onboarding documents prior to program start.

Job Locations

Kids Great Minds works in partnership with municipalities across the GTA to provide computer courses in local community centres, libraries and schools. We are currently seeking candidates to work across various locations throughout South and West Mississauga.

Compensation

Hourly wage: From $25.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
