Founded in 1970, Steele Hotels is an independent hotel operator based out of Newfoundland and Labrador Canada. With origins in Gander, NL the company has grown to include 8 properties located in St. John's, NL, Corner Brook, NL, and Fredericton, NB.

Steele Hotels is looking for a part-time Bartender to join our growing team at JAG Hotel in St. John’s, NL. The ideal candidate would possess a positive "can-do" attitude and a high level of professionalism, coupled with a strong work ethic and customer service skills. This often involves working in fast-paced environments at varying times throughout the day or night.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

- Greet and welcome guests in a friendly and qualified manner
- Take beverage orders from customers and prepare and serve beverages promptly, ensuring quality service and guest satisfaction, and serve food when required
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of the drink menu and specials and make recommendations
- Monitor the bar area, promptly addressing and resolving any guest issues
- Accurately track credit card receipts and cash transactions while collecting customer payments
- Adhere to all alcohol service regulations and safety guidelines, including checking IDs when necessary
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including washing glassware and restocking supplies
- Demonstrate a professional and positive presentation to guests and colleagues, and be well-groomed
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes:

- Serve Responsible Certificate required, or willingness to obtain the certification
- Completion of a Bartending program from an accredited school is an asset
- 1 to 2 years’ experience as a bartender or a similar role is required




- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain composure in a rapid-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in order processing and cash handling
- Ability to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and other team members to ensure smooth service
- Quick problem-solving skills to address customer complaints and requests
