Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our non-sterile compounding pharmacy team. The successful candidate will assist pharmacists in preparing customized non-sterile compounded medications while ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with regulatory and pharmacy standards. This position is laboratory-based and focuses on compounding, documentation, inventory management, equipment maintenance, and quality assurance in accordance with USP <795>, NAPRA standards, and applicable provincial regulations.

Responsibilities

- Prepare customized non-sterile compounded medications according to prescriptions, Master Formulation Records (MFRs), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Accurately weigh, measure, and mix active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and excipients using appropriate compounding equipment.
- Perform pharmaceutical calculations to ensure accurate formulation and dosing.
- Verify ingredient identity, lot numbers, expiry dates, and quantities before compounding.
- Complete and maintain accurate compounding records, batch records, and supporting documentation.
- Label compounded preparations according to pharmacy policies and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain inventory of pharmaceutical ingredients, chemicals, packaging supplies, and laboratory consumables.
- Receive, inspect, and properly store pharmaceutical ingredients and supplies.
- Clean, calibrate, and maintain compounding equipment and work areas according to SOPs.
- Follow established cleaning procedures to minimize the risk of cross-contamination.
- Comply with USP <795>, NAPRA Model Standards, Occupational Health and Safety requirements,



and all pharmacy policies.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe handling procedures for hazardous and non-hazardous ingredients.
- Assist with quality assurance activities, including documentation reviews, equipment logs, and environmental cleaning records.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and regulatory inspections.

Qualifications

- Registered or licensed Pharmacy Technician, as required by provincial regulations.
- Previous experience in a non-sterile compounding pharmacy is preferred.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations and non-sterile compounding techniques.
- Familiarity with USP <795>, NAPRA Model Standards for Non-Sterile Pharmacy Compounding, and Good Documentation Practices.
- Strong understanding of ingredient handling, weighing techniques, and compounding equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality compounded preparations.
- Robust organizational, documentation, and time management skills.
- Ability to follow written procedures and SOPs accurately.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a laboratory environment.
- Commitment to workplace safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.

Preferred Skills

- Experience preparing creams, ointments, gels, lotions, solutions, suspensions, capsules, troches, suppositories, and powders.
- Experience using electronic compounding records and pharmacy management software.
- Knowledge of risk assessments, Master Formulation Records (MFRs), and batch documentation.
- Experience with inventory control, ingredient receiving, and lot traceability.
- Understanding of hazardous ingredient handling and appropriate PPE requirements.

Pay: $22.60-$30.00 per hour
